It is Nancy Irelan’s philosophy of wine making that varietals be allowed to express themselves and the environment they are grown in. The Finger Lakes, being a cool climate growing region, is the best place to focus in on Cool Climate Varietals. She and her husband Michael, our Viticulturalist, have spent the last 20 years bringing unique members of the Vinifera (European Wine Grape) family to Seneca Lake to make wines that express each vintage distinctly.
